Life in Massena is as harsh and barren as the frigid landscape, where two hardened single mothers are struggling to make ends meet for their children. Lila, a widowed Mohawk, had her newborn son taken away by her mother-in-law a year ago. Ray, a mother of two, is dealing with a gambling-addicted husband who ran off with their new trailer home's down payment. Facing limited opportunities, Ray and Lila turn to illegal activities, smuggling immigrants into the U.S. through Mohawk territory in order to secure the money for the home. Determined to make one last run, the women find themselves in a life or death situation, testing their friendship and love for their children.
